Banknotes issued by Republic of Armenia in 1997

In 1997 a new set of 6 denominations where issued honouring some of the well known Armenian literary and artistic personnel.  The denominations are 50, 100, 500, 1000, 5000 and 20,000.

	Value: 50 Dram Face A':  The famous Armenian composer Aram Khachaterian. Face B': Two dancers from the famous opera 'Gayane'. – Mount Ararat in the background.
	Value: 100 Dram  Face A': Dr. Victor Hampartsoumian , President of the Armenian Academy of Science. Face B': Yerevan observatory.
	Value: 500 Dram Face A': Prominent Armenian architect A. Tamanyan Face B': Armenian Government House on the Republic Square in centre of Yerevan. Designed by A. Tamanyan.
	Value: 1000 Dram  Face A': Well known and highly respected Armenian poet and writer Yeghishe Charents. Face B': A horse driven cart and a street scene in Yerevan.
	Value: 5000 Dram Face A': Hovhannes Toumanian, the well-known Armenian poet known as "Amenayn Hayots Panasdeghdz" (Poet of all Armenians).  Face B': A painting of mountains and a village in Armenia.
	Value: 20,000 Dram Face A': The famous Armenian painter Martiros Sarian. Face B': A painting of the hills and mountaisns of Armenia.

Banknotes issued by the first Republic of Armenia in 1919

The following are pictures of the very rear banknotes and stamps issued by the first Republic of Armenia in 1919. Back then the currency was called “Rouble”. The denominations shown are 100 and 250 Roubles.
